Amalfi Coast Itinerary

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

A fun-filled, packed 4 day trip to Positano, Capri, Amalfi & Ravello in Italy.

Day 1 - Arrive in Positano

Explore, relax & get dinner. We got there very late so we just got pizza nearby while we roamed the streets.

Day 2 - Boat Trip from Positano to Capri

I used Cassiopea Positano Excursions (www.cassiopea-positano.com). This cost around $100 per person and lasts pretty much the whole day. Eat a quick breakfast by the restaurants near the dock, then head to Capri for lunch. I ate at Pinseria Tre Farine Capri - they had THE BEST VIEW. I relaxed by the beaches near the main dock. The water was insanely blue and you had a nice view of all the boats. When you get back from Capri- go back to where you stay, shower & then head out to dinner nearby. I went to Chez Black, an expensive seafood restaurant that sits right in front of the sea and ordered the local fish of the day. *Make sure you make dinner reservations in advance!!!

Day 3 - Amalfi & Ravello Day Trip

Drive to Amalfi and Ravello (There's parking but it is limited). You could take the bus from Positano to Amalfi as another, much cheaper option. Although, I recommend a car if you are short on time in this area.

Amalfi - Breakfast at Pasticceria Pansa Amalfi. Right next door is the Duomo di Sant’Andrea. Head in there for a couple euros (less than 10) and take a look around at her beauty. When you're done walk down the steps and roam the slim streets of Amalfi. There's plenty of shops to look around in! Find a sandwich shop for a quick bite or a restaurant. If you love seafood you are in the right place! There are restaurants all up and down the street Via Lorenzo D'Amalfi. I ate at a sandwich shop on this street that was to DIE FOR but can't remember the name *cries*. After that, take the car and head to Spiaggia di Castiglione. Free parking, and you get a beautiful walk down - about 100 steps. Once you get there it is paradise! The beach is intimate & pristine. There is a beach club and shower. This beach is great in the morning/ afternoon. After about 4 PM you start to lose the sun behind the cliffs. After you're done, go ahead and hop in the car and head to Ravello.

Ravello - Once you get to Ravello - follow the signs to parking. There is a big open area to park so it was easy finding a spot. Walk around the square, see the shops and then head over to the Villas to catch a sunset with a view. I went to both Villa Cimbrone/ terrace of infinity (7 euros) and Villa Rufolo (about the same cost). If I would have to choose due to time, I'd choose Villa Rufolo. The view was BREATHTAKING. But both are gorgeous. If the Duomo is open check it out! It's very small, but beautiful. Then try to head back to Positano for dinner before dark. The turns get hard too late at night.

Day 4 - Beach near Positano then leave

After you get all ready and packed up, head to a coffee shop to grab an espresso and breakfast before you check out. Then go to Spiaggia di Tordigliano. If you love hiking this beach is for you! Park right near the entrance on the side of the highway. This beach is pretty hard to get to but once you're there - it's the clearest water you've ever seen. It's GREAT for snorkeling. The hike down takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you hike down you will see a tiny beach - that's not the right one! Head over to the right and climb up a latter & rocks. Climb about 5 minutes and then you will see the pristine, crystal clear beach!
