Milos Island is so underrated. This was by far, my favorite island that I've been to in Greece.
My friend Mackenzie and I came to Milos from Santorini to visit my cousin Mallory, who was working as an au pair there. The ferry we used was Seajets and it was $69.88 per person. This was the worst ferry ride I have ever been on - not because of the company, but because of the wind!!! I believe the winds were over 40mph or so. The ferry was rocking literally from side to side. You were moving the whole time. I have never seen so many people throw up in my life! The bathrooms were crowded, my poor friend Mackenzie got sick, the people who worked there were cleaning up vomit on the floor and kept passing around "barf bags". Oh and the smell was just as horrible as you can imagine. I just want to say - I am so thankful for dramamine!!! I usually get seasick so I took 2 of these pills. I made it without throwing up, just barely. I will never go anywhere without dramamine now. I consider it an essential! So if you are touring around the Mediterranean Sea, bring it- you won't regret it. Also a quick tip: the middle/back of the boat is better than the front when it comes to sea/motion sickness. You won't feel it as much there.
Once we finally arrived, we stayed at the Agnanti Hotel located in Katifora, Adamantas, 84800, Greece. There is free parking there if you choose to rent a car (which I recommend). We ended up not renting a car, but my cousin was able to use her hosts' car to drive us around the island. There are also bus tickets to take you around and are around 3 euros one-way. We used that a couple of times.
Now, on to the fun part - things to do in Milos! Here's what we did:
Day 1:
Our first day in Milos we spent in Adamas exploring the shops. We ate a gyro at Gyros of Milos located at Μηλος, Adamas 848 00, Greece. We then ventured and got some cute bikinis in town. After that we went to the bar called Himalaya Cocktail Bar & Cafe located at Adamantas 848 01, Greece. Unfortunately since then they have become permanently closed.
Day 2:
On our second day we wanted to explore the beaches! Fun fact: Milos has over 80 beaches . They are all super unique because Milos is a volcanic island. Our beach itinerary for the day was Kapros Beach, Papafragas Caves, and then Fyriplaka Beach. Kapros and Papafragas were close together. We took a bus from Adamas to here. It was very windy on this side of the island during this time so it wasn't safe to swim in. And by unsafe I mean the current's were so strong and waves so incredibly high that you would for sure drown. With that being said, we headed to the other side of the island to Fyriplaka where it was calm and no winds. This beach had incredible rock formations, was quite & peaceful. Also past that big rock formation is a nude beach. Plan your trip according to the wind!! You can thank me later. After we were all beached out for the day we went to Gialos for dinner in Pollonia. It is located at Pollonia 848 00, Greece.
Day 3:
On day three we set out on a catamaran tour from Pollonia (where my cousin was staying) and did the Poliegos - Kleftiko Sunset Tour (I've linked below). The tour was $169.54/person for 10 hours. It included beverages, bottled water, snacks, lunch, live commentary on board, snorkeling equipment and alcoholic beverages. This was one of the more expensive excursions we did, but man oh man was it worth it. To this day it was still one of the most incredible sights I've ever seen. AND I also got to live out pretending to be a mermaid all day??? It was a dream. Let it be noted that the food was all cooked on the boat. The captain caught an octopus on our tour and then served it up for us at lunch. Definitely the freshest food I've ever eaten. And on top of that they provided vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian & meat options. It was Greek food heaven on board.

Day 4:
Starting at 5:30am we traveled to Sarakiniko Beach to watch the sunrise. This beach is a gem. You feel like you are on another planet. This was an amazing start to the day. I recommend catching the sunrise here because the big crowd doesn't come yet AND you need to wake up to catch the sunrise at least one day in Greece. There's nothing quite like it.
What's your favorite place in Milos?
"Sarakiniko!! It's hard not to love it, it looks like the moon. I also just loved going on runs and discovering new beaches. There were so many beaches that it was overwhelming - but amazing" - Mallory Harr aka @MunchiesbyMallory on instagram
From there I went to hangout with my cousin and the little boy she was watching in Pollonia. We went snorkeling together right by White Pebble Suites. It was a great snorkeling place! I found a hermit crab while snorkeling and went to show the kid. He replied "DIE" and pretended to die. Safe to say I put it back where I found it hahaha.
After that we headed to Plaka. Plaka is THE SPOT. It's what you think of when you see photos of Greek Islands. There's so much to do in this town. We watched the sunset in the main square and then ate dinner at Avli-Milos. It was an incredible meal and located at Plaka 848 00, Greece. After dinner we walked around a bit, ate gelato and listened to people sing music in the streets. In Plaka, you can find remnants of castle walls of a Venetian defensive fortress that dates to the 13th century. We also hiked up to the castle (Kastro) and it had one of the best viewpoints to watch the sunset in Milos Island. We hiked up when it was dark and there were a few... *cough* people in love *cough*.
